Set in San Francisco, Golden Lies is a mystery-romance involving three generations of three very different families, the Hathaways, influential members of San Francisco’s upper crust, the Delaneys, Irish Immigrants, and the Chens of China Town.

Connections and interconnections among the three families are disclosed as the story unfolds. The central love story involves the granddaughter of the Hathaway patriarch falling for the grandson of the Delaney’s, and along the way, a surprising family relationship with the Chens is uncovered.

A legend and a curse attached to a pair of missing ancient Chinese bronze dragons are the catalyst that brings these three families back together.

Golden Lies is an entertaining read. It is certainly light reading, but of its type it is better than many I’ve read. The author appears to know San Francisco and she displays considerable knowledge of the customs and beliefs of the Chinese society there. I recommend this book to those who enjoy Nora Roberts and Fern Michaels. It is cast in a similar style.
