Review of 'Whiskey Beach' by Nora Roberts

Whiskey BeachWhiskey Beach by Nora Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a dedicated fan of Nora Roberts. I think she is a master at setting a scene, creating believable characters and producing compelling plots. Some of her shorter, earlier (genre) romances may leave something to be desired, but her most recent novel, Whiskey Beach is Nora Roberts at her best. She gives us everything here. A tormented hero, a fey and charming heroine, a truly nasty villain, a missing pirate treasure, a grand old mansion on the beach, and an unsolved murder that is destroying lives.

The story moves. It never bogs down. This in spite of the fact that Roberts often spends paragraphs, even pages on background story and setting.

Somehow she makes us care about her characters and where and how they live. Whiskey Beach becomes so real that one wants to pull out a map and find it. If you are a Roberts Fan, don’t miss this new book, and if you’ve never read a Nora Roberts, this is a great one to start with. Highly recommended.
